Dariusz Dziala gave a fascinating account of his night time researches into creating a revolving DNA chain (which I thought was some custom feature I’d never heard of) using After Effects with absolutely no plugins at all. It’s a sign of where things are heading in the future with AE and its increasing capabilities in the 3d sphere (ho ho). We’ll pop up his sample when we get it.

Blender

Also recommended the amazingly cool 3d open source package Blender for a lot more 3d control. If you haven’t ever tried it – get it now and play. And watch one of the latest movies created purely using Blender, Sintel:

Then we went to the Rusty Bicycle and I’m sure I remember talk of dreams, Facebook cats, camera models, and the Olympics.

Advance notice: Richard Curtis from Adobe will visit us again on November 15th, probably at the Brookes venue again.

Next month: Thursday October 18th.
